Yogatry - Yoga, Meditation + Poetry
Limited Capacity seats available

"Poetry is the music of the soul, and, above all, of great and feeling souls,” said Voltaire, and in this workshop you'll experience deep, focused asana practice while the reading of poetry forms the backdrop. As words and movement fuse together in your mind and heart, we'll then enter a period of guided formal meditation followed by journaling, self-study, and our own writing. The writing portion is led by a published poet and literary editor who will help you to hone the process of going from stream of consciousness to concise, elegant prose or poetry yourself. This workshop weaves asana, meditation, writing, and imagination in a way you've never before experienced it!

Designing Sequences & Transforming Adjustments
Limited Capacity seats available

This 3 hour workshop is for teachers and those who are curious. Class will start with a 60 min dynamic flow, followed by a sequencing discussion on why we embodied the poses the way we did. We will address adjusting/assisting (partner work) and proper “play listing.” Consider this a "mini-teacher training" to brush up on their craft of teaching and overcome the nerves that accompany the teacher role, as well as for those who are curious about what a day in teacher training feels like.

Expect to learn/understand:
-Rational behind sequencing
-How to plan a class step by step
-How to get creative without sacrificing safe sequencing
-Fundamental actions of asanas
-Counterpose principles
-Kinesthetic empathy
-Improve observation skills when teaching/adjusting
-The 4 reasons why to adjust
-How to give basic, intermediate, advanced adjustments
-Increase skill and confidence to adjust with more potency
-Function vs. Form
-Basic understanding of common contraindications

** This class is geared toward teachers, but anyone is welcome
